Accessibility
Enclerk.com should work for everyone who makes a public records request or answers one, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification or voice control.
The standard we work to
We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. It is the standard for the websites of state and local governments under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the agencies that use Enclerk.com are public agencies whose records portals are held to it.
Where we are
In September 2026 we audited every page against WCAG 2.1 AA: automated checks, the contrast of every colour scheme measured, and a review of each page by hand. The pages the public uses have had their fixes: an agency's front page, the sign-in link, the request form and the list of your requests. Keyboard focus is visible on every page, messages are announced to screen readers, and a form's errors are tied to the field they concern.
Some work remains on the pages agency staff use. These are the gaps we know of:
- A request opened over a staff member's list does not yet always take keyboard focus, or give it back when it closes.
- Some fields on the administration pages are not yet labelled for screen readers.
- The formatting buttons of the letter editor need clearer names.
- Wide tables on staff pages scroll sideways on a small screen, and some of those areas cannot yet be scrolled with the keyboard.
We fix these as part of our ordinary work, and this page changes when they are done.
If something does not work for you
Tell us what you were trying to do and on which page, and we will fix it or find another way to get you what you need. To reach us, write to us with the form under Request a quote on the front page; a person reads every message.
You never have to use this site to make a records request. You can make a request to the agency directly, in writing, by email or in person, and the agency has a duty to help you make it.
